Professor Downs Featured in New York Times Article

Professor Greg Dows appears in NYT Article discussing the many historians who gathered at Civil War sites throughout the country

Professor Greg Downs and dozens of other historians from around the country recently traveled to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on the 158th anniversary of Lincoln's issuing the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation. The historians sought to highlight distortions of Black contributions in the battle over the Civil War's legacy.

Professor Chiang was recently featured in a UCD Global Affairs article discussing his efforts to amplify LGBTQ history.

Professor Chiang served as editor-in-chief for the Global Encyclopedia of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transfer, and Queer (LBGTQ) History. This three-volume encyclopedia won the 2020 Dartmouth Medal and features contributors from nearly 40 different countries.

 

Professor Louis Warren Featured in PBS Documentary

Professor Warren appeared in PBS's "American Oz," a documentary about the life and career of L. Frank Baum, the author of The Wizard of Oz.

The documentary is episode 33, season 4 of the PBS documentary series "American Experience."

Professor Materson named P.L.A.C.E. Scholar of the Quarter for Winter 2021

Congratulations to Professor Lisa Materson, who was named P.L.A.C.E. (Professors Leveraging A Community of Engagement) Scholar of the Quarter!

This award recognizes faculty whose scholarship epitomizes scholarly or creative achievements that involve diverse communities with a commitment to social change. Materson was recognized for the integration of her research with her work with the Davis-Puerto Rico Initiative and National Park Service, which demonstrate “publicly engaged scholarship that seeks to create change in communities."
