
Congratulations Manoel Neto on His New Position as Assistant Professor of History at Yale University
The UC Davis History department would like to congratulate Manoel Rendeiro Neto on his new position as a Yale Postdoctoral Associate for 2025-2026 and an Assistant Professor of Latin American History at Yale University starting Fall 2026! His doctoral dissertation "Imperial Tides, Runaway Rivers: Cultivating Knowledge, Labor and Sovereignty in the Atlantic Amazon" investigates daily accounts of fluvial navigation, forest domestication, and agricultural practices that revealed fragile imperial dependencies on Afro-Indigenous knowledge in define slavery, freedom, and sovereignty in the transimperial disputes over the Amazonian Rainforest and the Guianas in the 1700s and 1800s.
