Now recruiting for the Emanuel Ringelblum Chair in Jewish History. 

The Department of History at the University of California, Davis, is recruiting for a tenured position specializing in European Jewish History to fill the Emanuel Ringelblum Chair. Chronological period and specialization are open; the Department is eager to consider specialists in medieval, early modern and modern European Jewish history. This recruitment is conducted at the ranks of Associate and Full Professor. The resulting hire will be at the Associate or Full rank, depending on the proposed appointee’s qualifications. This position will require the candidate to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses (at least half in the field of Jewish history) and to conduct research in their field of expertise. In particular, applicants must be prepared to teach the history of the Holocaust regularly. 

Applicants should have the Ph.D. or its equivalent in history or another relevant field. The position is open until filled. Applications, however, must be received by November 4, 2024 to be assured of consideration in the first round. A writing sample, a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, and a statement of contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion are required to apply. References and evidence of excellence in teaching will be requested from applicants advancing past the first round.
