Professor Walker Awarded $50,000 Grant to Digitize Endangered Peruvian Archive

A new project led by Professor Charles Walker will digitize documents of the Peruvian Peasant Confederation and make them accessible online

UCLA Library's Modern Endangered Archives Program (MEAP) recently rewarded Professor Charles Walker a $50,000 grant to digitize the documents of Confederación Campesina del Perú--a peasants' rights group founded in 1947. For years, historical documents of the CCP remained on the floor of a house in downtown Lima. Professor Walker and a team of Peruvian experts will spend the next 8 months uncovering and uploading these documents--many of which will be accessible online through the UCLA Library and Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
