Asian History

Asian History.  The Department of History at the University of California, Davis, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in China/East Asia history. All periods and areas of specialization are welcome, but we are particularly interested in those candidates whose scholarship locates East Asian history in a larger transcultural, comparative, or global context. The successful candidate will teach appropriate survey courses of East Asian civilizations, as well as other upper-division and graduate courses commensurate to her/his/their specializations.  However, she/he/they should be able to teach baseline courses in Chinese history, and also to supervise Ph.D. students and develop our Asian studies graduate programs through research, mentorship and outreach activities.  


Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. by the beginning of the appointment in July 2024. The deadline to apply is October 31, 2023.
