Professor Giusti Cordero has written on Puerto Rican and Caribbean social, legal and environmental history. He is co-editor of the books "Sugarlandia Revisited: Sugar and Colonialism in Asia and the Americas, 1800-1940" and "Race and Rurality in the Global Economy."
He participated in civilian-led mobilizations to remove the U.S. Navy from the island municipality of Vieques, Puerto Rico, in the early 2000s, and has been involved in debates about the austerity measures imposed on Puerto Rico's public university system.
He earned his doctorate in sociology from SUNY-Binghamton and a law degree from the University of Puerto Rico.
