Serpa Wins Bemis Dissertation Research Grant

The History Department congratulates doctoral candidate Ashley Serpa, who has received the Samuel Flagg Bemis Dissertation Research Grant, awarded by the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations.

Serpa, who is fluent in Portuguese, is researching reactions to U.S. policies on decolonization in the 1960s and 1970s, under the guidance of Professor Kathy Olmsted. Serpa has also received numerous other grants supporting her research. The Bemin Dissertation Research Grant will help Serpa complete her US-based research in New Orleans and Washington, D.C.
