Allegra Harrison

Name: Allegra Harrison

Graduation Year: 2014

Current Position: Email Marketing Coordinator, FOREO

What do you do as an email marketing coordinator?

I manage FOREO's email marketing program and coordinate online content production. Essentially, I am a communicator: I figure out the best way to communicate the company's brand (its personality, as I like to think of it) and products to consumers. Day-to-day my role involves conceptualizing campaigns, writing and editing copy, laying out pages for email and web, collaborating with designers to execute on campaigns and conducting follow-up analysis.

How did your UC Davis education prepare you for this work?

My UCD major in History taught me to be a good writer and a strong critical thinker. Whether I'm writing to a broad consumer audience or dashing off an email to coworkers, clear and concise writing helps me achieve my goals. The critical thinking skills I developed when writing term papers and blue book exams now help me create and implement a cohesive strategy.

Studying History also gave me an appreciation for world cultures. My company operates globally and I work cross-functionally with many of these international offices. History has served me practically in this regard-- I feel I am better able to connect with my international counterparts by understanding their historical and cultural contexts.
