Quinn Javers’ research focuses on violence, law, local communities, and state-society relations during the Qing dynasty (1644-1912). The main sources for his work are legal cases from local archives, primarily from Sichuan Province. He is currently revising his dissertation, “Conflict, Community and Crime in Fin-de-siècle Sichuan,” for publication.
Over the years, he has lived in Beijing, Taipei, Chengdu and Hong Kong, and has travelled throughout China.
